Permit Requirements

Starting June 1st, City Hall will be open to the public Monday-Friday from 8 am – 12 pm.  Below is information regarding our procedures and hours.

Schedule

The permit counter will be open Monday through Friday from 8:00 am – 12:00 pm for permit pick up or drop off. During afternoon hours, please contact us by e-mail or phone. Meetings are by appointment only.  

Permits for New Residential or New Commercial Construction 

We require an appointment to drop off new residential or new commercial construction permits. During this time, staff will confirm that all documents on the checklist are included and the correct number of copies are provided. To schedule a time, please call 727-724-1515.

Permits 

• You may submit permits in person at City Hall from 8 am to 12 pm. We recommend wearing a mask.

Small Permits by Email

• You may also submit small permits via email to ebpermits@cityofsafetyharbor.com
• Once we have the permit cost, we will contact you with the amount.
• Payments can be dropped off to the city’s utility payment mailbox at the front of City Hall. Please indicate on the envelope the permit number and address. You may also mail the check to the Building Division.
• Once the permit is ready for pick up, we will let you know.
• It will be placed in the permit pick up box, which will be outside and in front of city hall from 1 pm to 4 pm.    
• We cannot accept credit card payments.
• E-mail permits take several days to process.  

Inspections

• Please e-mail inspection requests to: inspections@cityofsafetyharbor.com
• We accept inspection requests by e-mail before 2 pm on the prior business day.
• We are not conducting interior inspections. Please schedule an e-mail/video inspection at inspections@cityofsafetyharbor.com and then send photos/video to the same email.

  • Notice of Commencement (PDF) (certified copy)**
  • Elevation Certificate (if within flood zone)
* Depending on scope of work
**If value of job is over $2,500
