Summer Science Fun: (Ages 5-12) Monday, July 28, 2:00 pm. Cool off at the library with your friends while enjoying a story, experiment, craft, movie or games. Each week, we'll explore a new science-based activity. *Registration required. 

Children's End of Summer Reading Program Pizza Party: (Ages 3-12) Friday, August 1, 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm.
Please make sure you complete all 24 hours of your Reading Logs by Thursday, July 31st so you can attend our Pizza Party! Enjoy prizes, face painting and dancing with Zumba Kids instructor, Miss Tiffany.

New program! Music & Movement: Ballet- (Ages 4-9) Tuesday, August 12, 4:00 pm. An introductory ballet class taught by a certified instructor from Body Altitudes. Registration is required. September's class will be an introductory Hip-Hop dance!

Wee Discoveries: (Ages 2-5) Thursday, August 14, 10:30 am. Come play with age-appropriate discovery stations designed to encourage creativity in learning with STEM goals in mind. Adult participation required.

Animal Stories of the Rainforest: (Ages 12 & under) July 1. Learn about rainforest animals from Story-teller, Katie Adams, and her colorful puppets! **

Wonders of Nature: (Ages 12 & under) July 8, 11:30 am and 1:00 pm. Enjoy this live animal show starring parrots, raptors, and other animals. **

Leah's Cartooning Class: (Ages 5-12) July 15 (*Registration required). Discover your drawing abilities with this fun, science-themed class. 

Mr. McWiz: Unbelievable Science Experiments: (Ages 5-12) July 22. The award-winning Mr. McWiz will stimulate your child's natural love of learning with age appropriate science experiments. **

Tampa Taiko Japanese Drumming: (Ages 12 & under) July 29. Enjoy this dynamic drumming event that put's the BOOM in our summer reading program! **

*Registration begins two weeks prior to the program. Please be prompt to our programs! We will close the door and have no admittance 10 minutes after each program begins. 150 FREE tickets will be given out first come, first served starting 1/2 hour before each show.

Toddler Story Time:
(Ages 19 months - 3 years) Mondays, 10:30 - 11:15am.  Bring your little ones to the library to listen to stories, sing songs, dance, do finger plays and enjoy a simple craft. 

Preschool Story Time:
(Ages 2 -6 years) Wednesdays, 10:30 - 11:15am.  Bring your young one to the library to listen to stories, sing songs, dance, do finger plays and enjoy a fun craft.

Baby & Me Story Time: (Ages birth -18 months) Fridays, 10:00 - 10:30am.  Enjoy special time with your baby and listen to a few stories, songs, fingerplays followed by bubble time and a play session!  

Note: Story Times will be on break starting, Friday, August 1 and returning Monday, August 18.

Story Yoga: (Ages 3-10) Wednesday, September 3, 4:00 pm.  Kids can enjoy fun animal and nature poses, partner games, songs, interactive stories, music and movement! The benefits of yoga for children include: improved flexibility, concentration, patience, balance, and muscle strength. Don't forget to wear stretchy clothes and please bring a mat or beach towel.  Please call to register.

Family Musical Yoga: (All ages) Friday, August 15,  4:00 pm. Together with your family enjoy the fun and healing power of breath, posture and sound. Practice peace and freedom... Let your spirit sing and dance! Please call to register.

LEGO League: (Ages 3 years and up) Saturdays, 3:00 – 4:30 pm and 3:00 - 4:30 pm the fourth Wednesday of the month.  Bring your friends and join us for creative building with LEGOS.

Zumba Kids: (Ages 4-12) On break during August. Will resume September   Boys and Girls are invited to Shake, Wiggle, and Giggle during this crazy cool dance fitness program, with Instructor Tiffany Palmer Godfrey. Kids will be introduced to World Rhythms such as Salsa, Merengue, Cumbia, Reggaeton, Hip-hop and more. Parents love Zumba Kids because it increases their child’s focus, self-confidence, coordination, and metabolism, and kids love it because it’s FUN!
 No registration required.

Tail Waggin' Tutors
A Dog is a READER’S Best Friend! These dogs are specially trained by Therapy Dogs, International to listen patiently while a child practices reading and gains more confidence. Each reader will earn a Pawsome Reader Certificate!

Read to Oliver!: Friday, August 15, 3:00 pm. Oliver, the super fuzzy Spitz, is a calm and adorable therapy dog at the SHPL. Oliver looks forward to meeting all the kid's and helping them practice their reading skills! Woof!

Children’s Sign Language Course:
(Ages 4-12) Classes will be held on Mondays at 4:30 pm. ASL course that includes Sign Language vocabulary, stories and crafts or activities for children. Call the Deaf Services Office at 727-724-1525 extension 4120 to register.

Infant/Toddler Sign Language Course: (ages 0-3) Classes will be held on Thursdays at 10:30 am.  These fun and interactive signing classes will teach you how to include signs naturally while interacting with your child through daily routines, playtime, story time and music. Call the Deaf Services Office at 727-724-1525 extension 4120 to register.
