Super Summer 2015 Program Calendar (printable)
Summer Reading Kickoff Party: (Ages 3-12) Monday, June 8, 1:00 pm. Get your summer reading logs, start signing up for super programs, enjoy games, crafts and snacks. We'll also have a free book give-away!
Superhero Academy: (Ages 4-10) Mondays, June 15-July 27, 1:00 pm. Enjoy stories, crafts, and games as you practice your superhero powers! Registration required.
Music with Mar: Thursday, June 11, July 2, and August 20, 11:15 am. An interactive class where parent/caregiver and child participate together in musical activities. Adult attendance and participation is required.
Robotics Class: For children entering grades 2-5. Friday, June 19, 11:00 am. A STEM class using LEGO bricks to create and program robots. Registration required.
Coding for Kids: For children entering grades 3-5. Wednesday, June 24, 6:00 pm. A STEM class for children to learn computer programming and design a video game! Registration required.
Superheroes vs. Villains Costume Contest and Party: (All ages) June 27, 1-4 pm. Wear your favorite hero or villain costume for a chance to win prizes in our costume contest. Categories are: Children (ages 12 and under), Teens (ages 13-19), and Adults (ages 20+). Afterward, enjoy superhero crafts, games, and snacks. Entry fee is one canned food item.
Kids Take the Stage: Wednesdays, July 22 & July 29, 2:00 pm. Children learn basic acting techniques through improv games. Participation in both classes is required. Children will present a performance for their families at 3:00 pm on July 29. Registration required.
Bat Day! (Ages 12 and under) Friday, July 24, 11:00 am. Calling all Batman/Batgirl fans, celebrate real bats with an educational program by Tampa Bay Bats. Then stay to enjoy Batman themed crafts, games, movie and popcorn. Don't forget to wear your favorite Batman/Batgirl costumes!
End of Summer Reading Party: Saturday, August 1, 2:00 pm. Celebrate all your reading accomplishments with a carnival style party, complete with games, balloon artists and face painting!
Registration for programs between June 8-22 begins on Monday, June 8 @ 1:00 pm (the Summer Reading Kick-off Party). After the Kick-off Party, summer registration is two weeks prior to the program. You can call or stop by the reference desk to register for programs.
Reading with the Rays: (Grades K-12) Read your way to the ballpark! This reading program will encourage students to read more this summer and to visit the library regularly to collect prizes before going back to school in August. Make it all the away around to home and the ultimate reward is two tickets to see the Rays in action at Tropicana field!
Fritzy Brothers Circus: (Ages 12 and under) Tuesday, June 16, 1:00 pm. Family entertainment featuring juggling, balloons, magic, and more!
Leah’s Superhero Cartooning Class: (Ages 5-12) Tuesday, June 23, 1:00 pm. Join Leah as she demonstrates and teaches how to draw superhero themed cartoons! Registration Required.
Jiggleman! (Ages 12 and under)Tuesday, June 30, 1:00 pm. Enjoy this wacky show featuring balls, balloons, and pantomime!
“Meet the Pigeons” presented by Bill Burnside: Tuesday, July 7, 1:00 pm. Ages 12 and under. Our pigeon expert presents a fun, informative show about pigeons, complete with live birds!
Cesar Domico, Magician: Tuesday, July 14, 1:00 pm. Ages 12 and under. Cesar offers a spellbinding mix of magic and comedy!
Timeless Tales Theater presents Pinocchio: Tuesday, July 21, 11:30 am. Ages 12 and under. Watch these actors bring their original adaptation of a classic tale to life!
Didgeridoo Down Under: Tuesday, July 28, 1:00 pm. Ages 12 and under. This unique “edu-tainment” program weaves Australian music and character education into a high energy interactive program!

Toddler Story Time: (Ages 19 months - 3 years) Mondays, 10:30 - 11:15am.
Young ones will be introduced to language and literature as they listen to nursery rhymes and stories, sing songs, and do finger-plays. A simple craft or coloring sheet is offered after story time.
Preschool Story Time: (Ages 2 -6 years) Wednesdays, 10:30 - 11:15am.
Your preschooler will develop listening and early literacy skills while participating in an interactive story time with books, songs, and dance. A make-and-take craft is offered after story time.
Baby & Me Story Time: (Ages birth -18 months) Fridays, 10:00 - 10:30am
. Enjoy special bonding time with your baby, listen to a few simple stories, sing songs to your baby, do finger-plays, knee bouncers, bubble time and end with a play session!
Wee Discoveries: (Ages 2-5) Wednesday, June 18 & Thursday, July 9, 11:00 am.
Play with age appropriate discovery stations designed to encourage creativity in learing with STEAM goals in mind. Adult participation required.
Wee Sing: (Ages 1-5) Tuesdays at 10:00 am starting September 8th. Wee Sing is on summer hiatus.
This program incorporates foreign and sign languages, music instruments, songs and more!
Online sign-up for September programs will begin on Wednesday, August 26, 9:30 am.
Story Yoga: (Ages 4-10), Wednesday, July 1, 4:00 pm. Kids can enjoy fun animal and nature poses, partner games, songs, interactive stories, music and movement!
Kids' Yoga Dance: (Ages 3-9) Thursday, June 25 & July 23, 4:00 pm. Yoga meets dance in this creative program that offers kids a safe place to have fun, let go and move their bodies. Parents and caregivers are welcome to partipate, but not required.
Lego League: (Ages 3 years and up) Saturdays, 3:00 – 4:30 pm and 3:00 - 4:30 pm the fourth Wednesday of the month. (No program on Saturday, June 6) Bring your friends and join us for creative building with Legos. Try our building challenge of the week for a chance to win a prize!
Zumba Kids: (Ages 4-12) Friday, June 19 & July 17, 4:00 pm.
Boys and Girls are invited to Shake, Wiggle, and Giggle during this crazy cool dance fitness program, with Instructor Tiffany Palmer Godfrey. Kids will be introduced to World Rhythms such as Salsa, Merengue, Cumbia, Reggaeton, Hip-hop and more. Parents love Zumba Kids because it increases their child’s focus, self-confidence, coordination, and metabolism, and kids love it because it’s FUN!
Game On! @ the Library: (Ages 5-12) Wednesday, June 17 & July 15, 3:30-4:45
Come for an afternoon of Wii Games and board games. Enjoy some of the following games Wii Games: Just Dance, Mario Cart, Wii Resort Sports, and many more
or bring your own rated E for Everyone game. Play board games like Apples to Apples, Pictionary, Candyland, Uno
, Checkers, Chess
and many others. Bring a friend and have some fun indoors and away from the summer sun!
Children's Movies: (Ages 12 and under) Wednesday, June 10, 2:00 pm. Cool off at the library and enjoy the Gru crew with Despicable Me 2!
Wednesday, July 8, 3:30 pm. Join us as we watch everyones favorite super-family, The Incredibles.
Free popcorn and lemonade provided!
A Dog is a READER’S Best Friend! These dogs are specially trained to listen patiently while a child practices reading and gains more confidence. Each reader will earn a Pawsome Reader Certificate!

Children’s Sign Language Course: (Ages 4-12) Classes will be held on Mondays at 4:30 pm. ASL course that includes Sign Language vocabulary, stories and crafts or activities for children. Call the Deaf Services Office at 727-724-1525 extension 4120 to register.
Infant/Toddler Sign Language Course: (ages 0-3) Classes will be held on Thursdays at 10:30 am. These fun and interactive signing classes will teach you how to include signs naturally while interacting with your child through daily routines, playtime, story time and music.
