2015 Chair-ity Fundraiser
March 20 through April 17
The Safety Harbor Library Foundation announces its 3rd Annual Chair-ity Fundraiser!  Thirty artistically designed chairs created by local artists will be available for viewing at the library.  For a donation of $1.00 per ticket or $5.00 for six, the community will have the opportunity to own one of the chairs.  Votes will also be taken for the People's Choice and Most Creative chairs.  Preview the chairs on Flickr.  For more information, visit the Foundation's website.

Steel Magnolias

Presented by The Players of Safety Harbor (POSH).  Robert Harling's Steel Magnolias comes to life in a  heart-warming comedy about six friends bonded together by mutual triumphs and tragedy, who survive the cycle of life, birth and death to emerge stronger, closer and still laughing.  The funniest play ever to make you cry!  Directed by Diane Lynne.  Produced by the Safety Harbor Public Library.  For more information visit www.PlayersofSafetyHarbor.weebly.com.

Mari Ito, Japanese Ink Painter: Tuesday, April 2, 6:30 pm.  Mari Ito majored in Nihonga, a traditional Japanese-style painting.  She will demonstrate her techniques and discuss her unique work.  Her artwork will be on display. 

Birds in Your Florida Garden:  Thursday, April 9, 6:30 pm.  Are you interested in learning how to attract birds to your Florida garden using native plants?  Join Dr. Lynn Sumerson of the Clearwater Audubon Society as he identifies the different birds and points out ways you can encourage them to your backyard.

Community Drum Circle:  Friday, April 17.  Chair-ity Drawing at 6:00 pm.  Third Friday community drum circle led by Giving Tree Music will start at 6:30 pm outside the library under the Baranoff Oak Tree. 

Safety Harbor International Film Series: Sunday, April 19, 1:30 pm.  Radio Days (PG).  Woody Allen's gentle and nostalgic tribute to the glory days of radio and a coming-of-age story during World War II.

6th Annual Poetry Month Celebration:  Thursday, April 23, 6:00 pm.  Join the Poets' Mingle and enjoy refreshments while listening to a special performance by musical duo, Chant the Trees.  An open mic will round out the evening with readings from local poets.  Sponsored by the Friends of the Safety Harbor Public Library

Marcia Biggs - Thursday, April 16, 6:30 pm.
In Going Wild: Discovering Florida's Natural Wonders, travel writer Marcia Biggs will take us on a journey to some of her favorite outdoor destinations, sharing tips on where you can go to experience the beauty and authenticity of real Florida.  Through gorgeous photographs, Marcia will share her adventures from dolphin watching off the coast of St. Augustine, to paddling with manatees in Central Florida and searching for orchids in the Everglades.

Money Management & Savings Plan: Wednesday, April 8, 6:00 - 8:00 pm.  Florida Master Money Mentors will cover evaluating wants and needs, setting financial goals, steps to building a spending and savings plan and using a money management calendar as a tracking and planning tool.  Registration required; sign-up online.

Creative Writers Group & Story Circle:  Wednesday, April 15, 6:00 pm.  Facilitators Jan Golden and Sheila McNaughton provide lessons, suggestions for topics, and gentle feedback.
