Project Overview Through the efforts of the Safety Harbor Fire Department, the City of Safety Harbor has received a piece of steel from the World Trade Center attack on September 11, 2001, from the We Will Never Forget 911 Foundation, Inc.
The steel has been incorporated in a 9/11 Memorial that will be placed between City Hall and Fire Station 52 on Main Street. The design will enable the public to touch the piece of steel and will provide a timeline of the events from that tragic day in American history.
Cost & Donations
The cost of the project is estimated at $54,500. This cost includes all services required to finalize and construct the project. To date, the city has received roughly $30,359 in cash donations and commitments, in-kind donations of $14,520, and has negotiated with numerous vendors to reduce the cost of their contracted services. The city needs the help of the public to fund the memorial through cash or check donations or corporate sponsorship.
The Memorial is currently scheduled to be unveiled in the fall of 2014.
